Argentine renewables plant developer 360Energy was awarded a turnkey contract for state power company YPF Luz’s Zonda I solar PV project, media outlet EnergíaEstratégica reported.
YPF Luz this month said that work had started on the 100MW, US$93mn plant in San Juan province, its first foray into the solar PV segment.
Output from the plant will be sold to industrial clients through the country’s term market, Mater, with plans to eventually expand installed capacity to 300MW.
360Energy built the three phases of local energy firm Genneia’s Ullum complex in San Juan, among other projects.
Four solar projects, for a total of 40MW, are due to come online in Argentina this quarter, according to a provisional planning report from wholesale power market administrator Cammesa. They involve plants awarded in rounds 2 and 3 of the RenovAr renewable energy auctions and Mater.

The US$2.8mn works fall under the federal government’s Permer program for renewable energy in rural areas, which has financing support via a US$200mn loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
SE.MI. was awarded a contract to build a solar PV plant in Iruya department that will serve 140 homes and nine public buildings, the federal energy department said.
Multiradio was awarded a contract to overhaul and expand a mini hydroelectric plant to 30kW from 19kW, benefiting 80 homes in Orán department.
Battery storage and distribution work is also involved.
